ItN-technology for seawater pre-filtration will be used for another project in China

Saarbrücken, May, 23rd 2017. ItN Nanovation AG (ISIN DE000A0JL461) has won, under her brand name ItN Water Filtration, another project in the people's republic of China in close cooperation with its new major shareholder SafBon / Shanghai.

The new seawater desalination plant in Cangzhou (approximately two hours away from Beijing) is already under execution from SafBon in phase I. After SafBon has proposed to the local water authorities to equip the second phase with ItN's new process technology for pre-filtration of seawater based on ItN's ceramic flat sheet membrane, the assessment meeting of feasibility study was held in Shanghai last week. The experts have unanimously agreed to adopt ItN's membranes in order to protect reverse osmosis system used in the plant.

Phase II will produce 50,000m² of drinking water per day and for this capacity approximately 13,000m² of membrane area are planned, which will be delivered and installed in 2018. Because of the very high level of water quality behind ItN´s filtration, parts of the originally planned reverse osmosis membranes can be left off. The construction of phase II will ease the shortage of water resources in Bohai New district and promote pilot test zone for China National Seawater Desalination industry. The project has been approved in principle.

SafBon will not only build the seawater desalination plant in Cangzhou, but will also operate the plant and deliver the produced drinking water into the grid. Based on the financial model conducted by SafBon, the very long lifetime of the ceramic flat sheet membranes played an important role.

ItN Nanovation AG is seeing this project as a further step on the path of establishing its new technology in close cooperation with its new main investor.
